VPS.net Review and discount code

Just over a month ago I moved this blog from a dedicated server in New Zealand to a VPS at VPS.net in the USA. This post is a quick review of how I've found the service so far, a little bit of information about how it works, and a 25% discount coupon for your first month. (Note that this coupon code still works as at April 12th 2010).

Overview

This blog doesn't use a lot of resources, generating only 6k to 8k pageviews per day so having a VPS for it is probably a little bit of overkill, but I don't really like shared hosting and prefer to have more control over the box my websites are on. I'll also be adding a number of additional websites to this VPS over the coming months.

Originally it was hosted on my dedicated server in Auckland but it generates around 20GB of international traffic per month and this was costing too much hosting it from Auckland. Moving it to VPS.net means I'm now paying less overall with a server here and a VPS there than just with a server here.
